A large pile of garbage burst into flames late Thursday night in Hunts Point.

Fire officials received a call reporting the incident between Drake and Halleck streets around 9 p.m.

They say 79 fire and EMS personnel were sent to battle the blaze.

Citizen video of the scene shows large plumes of smoke rising from the heap.

It took nearly an hour to control the flames, according to officials.
