A Bronx father accused of pushing the mother of his child and their 8-month-old daughter off a balcony faces charges including murder and attempted murder, police say.
Angel Carrasco, 31, was led out of the 49th Precinct on Thursday after his arrest late Wednesday night.
He looked straight ahead and did not answer reporters’ questions. At one point, he broke into a wide grin and moved his head from side to side as neighbors yelled at him.
Police say Carrasco pushed Nathaly Ramirez, 23, and their daughter off her balcony at 2550 Olinville Ave. around 3:38 a.m. Tuesday.
Ramirez died. The baby was taken to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition.
News 12 learned Carrasco was taken to a hospital to be evaluated. His arraignment timing had not been confirmed.
Neighbors gathered outside the precinct Thursday, with some expressing relief over his arrest.
“That’s good they caught him and everything,” said neighbor Moises Hernandez.
Starrfire Vargas, a neighbor with two young children, said she was thinking about Ramirez’s family.
“I can’t imagine how hard it is for her parents to go through what they’re going through,” Vargas said.
A vigil for Ramirez is planned outside her apartment building Thursday evening.
