The boyfriend of a Bronx-born mother has been indicted in her murder in New York State Supreme Court, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr.
Tiliek Thompson, 41, is accused of killing 27-year-old Lovay Williams on Sept. 6. Thompson allegedly left her lifeless body in their shared apartment with Williams' 7-year-old daughter.
Thompson was indicted on a slew of charges including murder, strangulation, attempted assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
"This brutal alleged act of domestic violence devastated Lovay Williams' family members and forever changed the life of her 7-year-old daughter," said Bragg.
News 12 spoke with Williams' heartbroken family on multiple occasions, who expressed anger and heartbreak over the loss of a young mother.
According to court documents, Thompson struck Williams in the face and body before he strangled her to death.
Investigators say officers discovered Williams' body inside the West 156th Street apartment while performing a wellness check.
Thompson, who was dating and living with Williams at the time of her death, turned himself in six days after the alleged crime.
Officers walked him out of the 33rd Precinct in handcuffs later that evening as Williams' friends and loved ones watched from behind police barricades.
Thompson was indicted on Thursday.
"Ms. Williams' death is an utterly tragic reminder of the work we still need to do to combat intimate-partner and domestic violence," Bragg stated. "I want to assure survivors and their loved ones that we are deeply committed to addressing these crimes, and that we have the resources to help you. If you or someone you know is a survivor, please call our Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau at 212-335-4308."
