A male red fox was discovered aboard a cargo ship at the Port of New York and New Jersey last month.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol worked with government wildlife officials to secure the animal and transport him to the Bronx Zoo.

The fox is around 11 pounds and appears to be in good condition, according to medical examinations.

Zoo officials say they are caring for the animal and will determine his best long-term home.
