Ellen Levine, of Bedford Park, says she has been living in a hole in her kitchen ceiling for the last three weeks.
She claims she has lived at her apartment at 2714 Bainbridge Ave. for the last 35 years, and while mold and water damage has always been an issue, this is worse than ever before.
"I can't believe they would do this to me. I've been here for 35 years. I pay my rent every month. I don't cause any problems to anybody," says Levine.
Ellen says due to ongoing water damage and mold, management took down a section of sheet rock from her ceiling.
She claims the Department of Buildings filed a violation and requested that an engineer come and take a look at her ceiling.
She says management declined that request.
"What is your problem? That you can't get a structural engineer to order the proper repairs for that. There's no reason why you can't do that," says Levine.
She says she is now living with the fear that this can be harmful to her safety in her own home.
"I'm just hysterical. I'm still upset all the time because I don't want to live in an apartment where the ceiling could fall in and kill me," says Levine.
News 12 reached out to management and is waiting to hear back.
