The NYPD and the Police Athletic League hosted a community basketball game for the Deaf Community on Monday.
The basketball game was held at the Police Athletic League’s headquarters in The Bronx and promotes inclusion and community engagement.
"These young people, some of which work with us in the summer youth program, some who don't, but these are young people that sometimes we don't really get a chance to interact with, obviously," says Benjamin D. Gurley, assistant chief at Patrol Borough Bronx. "We know what's going on in the community with youth and crime, we want to do something positive."
The next game will be held at the NYPD Police Academy in Queens on Aug. 7.
