A man was arrested and charged in connection with a 2025 homicide that happened in the West Farms section of the Bronx, according to the NYPD.

Sources close to the investigation say Christopher Lawton, 36, fled to Ohio after allegedly shooting 25-year-old Chanler Reams inside their apartment building, located at 2111 Southern Blvd.

Police say the shooting happened at around 5:45 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2025.

Officers found Reams unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head.

Paramedics pronounced the 25-year-old dead at the scene.

Police sources say Lawton was captured in Ohio back on May 1, then extradited to New York City more than five months later. The NYPD announced his arrest on Friday.

Lawton is now charged with murder, two counts of assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Information about the relationship between Lawton and Reams, and whether they lived together, was not immediately released.
