The suspects in the stabbing of an off-duty officer in the Bronx have been arrested in Massachusetts.
Police say that NYPD detectives assigned to the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force worked with the Boston Regional Fugitive Task Force. They found D’Angelo Caraballo and Sneider Mejia hiding in the basement in a house in Lynn.
Caraballo and Mejia are accused of stabbing and robbing Detective Jose Mercedes while he was off duty on October 2 near Rochambeau Avenue and East 208 Street. They stabbed and slashed Mercedes multiple times in the body before taking his chain.
