A Stony Point man accused of ballot fraud in a local Republican committee primary was arraigned and released pending a future court appearance.
Aidan Rowan, 25, of Stony Point, left Clarkstown Justice Court on Wednesday afternoon after being arraigned on multiple charges tied to an alleged ballot fraud in the Stony Point Republican Committee's June 2026 primary election.
According to the Rockland County Sheriff's Office, Rowan was a candidate in the primary and is accused of committing ballot fraud.
Investigators say the case began after a complaint from the Rockland County Board of Elections and that the investigation found no evidence implicating any other individual, candidate, campaign, or elected official.
Rowan faces charges including forgery, criminal possession of a forged instrument, tampering with public records, offering a false instrument for filing, and making an apparently sworn false statement.
He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
In a statement on behalf of his campaign, Supervisor George Hoehmann said Rowan had been paid temporarily to knock on doors and put up signs but had no formal contract or campaign title. The campaign said Rowan had stopped receiving payments earlier in the election year.
“The allegations against Mr. Rowan have nothing to do with his previous temporary engagement with the campaign committee and has nothing to do with Clarkstown elections,” the statement said.
