6h agoA 1-year-old girl died Friday afternoon in an accidental drowning in Unionport, NYPD sources told News 12.
The NYPD says the child was taken to Montefiore-Einstein Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
Police say it happened at 2117 Story Ave. A web search of the property revealed that it is a home-based day care center.
Sources say the child opened a rear screen door and climbed over a fence and went into a pool. She was later found unconscious and unresponsive.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
