Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a person who they say stole luggage that contained $11,000 worth of valuables in front of a Soundview day care on Feb. 19.

Investigators say the suspect approached the 30-year-old victim near the Bright Star Day Care on Stratford Avenue. The suspect pretended to have a gun and demanded he surrender his belongings.

The victim attempted to flee, but dropped his luggage in the process. The robber then took the luggage and fled the scene in a gray SUV.
