Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark says a man was indicted on a murder charge for allegedly stabbing one man to death and wounding another in Morris Heights.

Jeffrey Jorge, 37, is accused of carrying out the random, brazen attack on Aug. 26, killing 32-year-old Rashaun Shettlewood. It happened around 3 p.m. in front of 2012 Davidson Ave.

"In a shocking and unprovoked attack, this defendant allegedly stabbed two men he did not know multiple times. Sadly, one of the victims died from his injuries," said Clark.

Surveillance video of the stabbing shows Jorge walk up to the two men underneath sidewalk scaffolding. Moments later, both victims are seen running for their lives, one with blood on his shirt and another clutching his stomach.

Shettlewood suffered stab wounds to the neck and chest, according to the DA's office. Paramedics rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died.

The second victim, a 33-year-old man, was stabbed in the torso. He is expected to recover physically.

Jorge is no stranger to run-ins with the law. Prosecutors say he admitted to attacking another man, also on Davidson Avenue, back in 2022. He was sentenced to a year behind bars. Additionally, police sources tell News 12 that Jorge has been arrested at least a dozen times.

Police and prosecutors say Jorge is from Brooklyn, although neighbors say he lived just a few doors down from the crime scene. News 12 obtained ring camera footage from this building, which shows Jorge walking in after the attack, seemingly talking to himself.

The NYPD arrested Jorge less than 24 hours after the attack.

The DA's office says he was indicted Tuesday on murder, manslaughter and attempted murder charges.

"We will get justice for this innocent victim and his grieving loved ones," said Clark.

Jorge is due back in court on Nov. 17.
