The man police say is responsible for
shooting a woman in Wakefield was arrested and charged with murder.
Michael Foster, 58, is accused of shooting 39-year-old Julia Anderson late Monday night near Murdock and Nereid avenues - less than a mile from their shared address in Mount Vernon. Anderson's family tells News 12 that Foster is her uncle.
Police say Anderson was standing outside of her parked Jeep when she was shot multiple times in the chest just before midnight.
Paramedics rushed her to Jacobi Hospital, where she died.
News 12 spoke to Anderson's family a day later. They say she was just across the street from the group home where she worked at the time of the shooting - a place where she spent over 10 years caring for adults with developmental disabilities.
Foster was walked out of the 47th precinct in handcuffs Wednesday night
He faces additional charges, including manslaughter and 10 counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Information about the alleged gunman's motive was not immediately made available.
