A gun-wielding man was shot in a chaotic scene in Manhattan Friday evening.
Police say NYPD officers saw Randy Negron shoot another man in West Harlem.
The incident unfolded at West 125th Street and Amsterdam Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Police say Negron shot the victim multiple times before the officers could get out of their vehicles and chase him down.
Officials say that while the officers were chasing Negron, another man ran onto the scene and shot at Negron. As this happened, one of the officers also fired at Negron, but it is unclear who struck him.
Negron's gun was recovered at the scene, according to officials.
Both the victim and Negron were taken to the hospital and are both in stable condition.
Police say the man who shot at Negron remains at large.
