Bronx man indicted on murder charges after pushing ex-girlfriend holding his baby off balcony
A Bronx man suspected of killing his former girlfriend and injuring their baby after pushing her off a balcony has been indicted for murder, attempted murder and other related charges.
Angel Carrasco, 31, stands accused of shoving 23-year-old Nathaly Ramirez to her death as she held their eight-month-old baby. The incident occurred the morning of Sept. 6 on the 15th floor of an Allerton apartment building.
Ramirez was pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi. The baby, Natalie, suffered critical injuries and remains hospitalized.
Carrasco was apprehended two days afterwards. As News 12 previously reported, cameras caught him grinning as officers led him out of the 49th Precinct later that day.
The violent incident caused devastation throughout the community and caught the attention of domestic violence support groups.
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark called Carrasco’s actions “heinous” and “heartbreaking” in a release announcing the indictment.
“This defendant is accused of a crime that has outraged our city. His callous disregard for life has left a young mother dead and his own daughter forever altered,” he said. “He now faces justice for the loss of Nathaly Ramirez.”
Carrasco is due back in court on Feb. 16.
