Juan Reevas, 45, was arraigned Monday on a number of charges including murder, attempted murder and endangering the welfare of a child.
Investigators say back in February, Yesenia Hall's children heard her arguing with Reevas. The children ran into the room and found their mother bleeding and Reevas with a knife.
Hall's 16-year-old son tried to protect his family but was stabbed multiple times.
Hall was pronounced dead at the hospital, but her son survived.
Reevas is due back in court in July.
