A Bronx man is accused of stabbing a stranger to death aboard a J train in Queens, according to police and sources.
Tyrell Thomas, 25, was taken into custody around five hours after he allegedly killed 59-year-old Mesias Lojano, of Queens.
The attack unfolded around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, when police say an argument erupted aboard a northbound J train at the Woodhaven Boulevard subway station.
According to detectives, Thomas then allegedly took out a knife and stabbed Lojano multiple times.
Paramedics rushed Lojano to Jamaica Hospital, where he died.
The NYPD says Thomas is charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
In comparison to 2025, citywide transit crime is up around 33% so far this year, according to NYPD data.
News 12 reached out to the NYPD to confirm the number of homicides in transit so far this year and is waiting to hear back as of Thursday afternoon.
